Brief history

At the helm of a very promising cricket club in the 80’s were Amien Jacobs and the following administrators, Feroze Chilwan, Ibrahim Jardine, Noore Nacerodien, Rushdie Sylvester and Yusuf Nacerodien, amongst others.

In 1989/90 the group made a significant decision, to provide sport to our members for 12 months of the year. This formed the perfect opposition and platform for the communities fight against drugs, gangsterism, crime and the idle gathering on street corners. Garlandale Football Club was born,

The club then affiliated to the Rylands based, Football Association of Western Province. Only two of the original members are still active today, Yusuf Nacerodien, the Chairman, and his son Fahmi Nacerodien.

The demarcation of football since unification saw the club move to Cape Town Tygerberg Local Football Association. At the end of the 2004 season the club moved to Cape District in Wynberg where a better playing and training environment was sought.

Within its 30 years of existence, the club has grown from only 1 team and 12 members to four youth teams and four senior team with more to come in 2021.

We at Garlandale believe that sport, especially football, must remain accessible to all, irrespective of social and cultural upbringing. This was our motto and will remain so going forward.
